From 11 July to 31 December 2020, the Campredon art centre in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue presents Les mers rêvent encore, Stéphane Guiran's first monographic exhibition in a public institution.

The artist lives and works in Eygalières, close to nature which inspires his creations.

Les mers rêvent encore is a total work of art research, bringing together writings, installations, sculptures, videos and sound pieces, most of which were created by Stéphane Guiran so that the Campredon art centre, the visitors and the works become one.

In homage to René Char, the exhibition is built around a poetic narrative, edited by the artist in the form of a book. The Campredon art centre is plunged into the night, and the spectator is invited to walk through scenes from the book, which are imaginary landscapes made up of installations, sound pieces and sculptures.

By plunging us into the night, Stéphane Guiran questions us about our interiority. He places us without any reference points in the middle of this unconscious dimension that Henri Michaux called the space of the inside. His installations shake up our perceptions of space, our visual and sensory references, taking us into an immersive experience that touches our emotions to better connect us to ourselves.

This creation, partly created during the period of confinement, invites us to reflect on the transformation, both of ourselves and of our consumption habits. Les poussières d'ivoire, one of his works on the theme of recycling and transformation, is being shown at both Campredon and the Villa Datris* Foundation, whose theme this year is Recycling/Overcycling.
