Centre du village
84470 Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne
The Lords of Chateauneuf’s former castle chapel, the Eglise Romane de Saint Jean Baptiste then became a priory for the Collège St-Ruf de Montpellier.

Originally based inside the feudal château, it still has the elevations typical of 12th century Roman Provencal art. It was partly built during the 17th century and took its current form in the 18th and 19th centuries. The patron saint of the village, Saint-Jean-Baptiste was always an object of devotion throughout the centuries.
The church still has the building’s original altar and its beautiful carved stone interior from the 12th century in the funeral and feudal chapel.

Church tour available for groups to book.
